Autumn Feet
She has autumn feet
She crackles and cries
Like when a leaf dies
It shows in her eyes
Kneel, pray, and repeat
She does everyday
She prays dark away
Light won’t seem to stay
The sun goes down quick
With this season’s stages
And then the time changes
And dark tips the gauges
Her dead leaf feet kick
They dance like its day
They move like ballet
They’re waiting for May
She will blush again
When light warms her face
And graces the place
Like white wedding lace
She’ll dance until then. Amen.
